I am totally intrigued by the imagination in this story. I give very few 5 ratings because there is usually room for improvement in the way a yarn is spun, and I think the writing in this sequel is an improvement over the writing of the first one. The editing is definitely better. This book continues the story of Laney McPherson and gives insight into who Henry is and asks further questions about Laney's existence. I'd already guessed Henry, but probably because Ms. Brady left a breadcrumb trail of clues in the first book. I really like the way she takes Genesis and some other ancient information that, in the last 50 or so years is coming to light and being constantly updated by our scientists, and makes a great tale of fiction out of it. In my opinion any criticism of the religious aspect of the book is just sour grapes by narrow-minded people, atheists and Christians alike. C'mon people, this is fiction. Think of it as myth or folklore. I don't get the idea that she is proselytizing because she wouldn't be making up fictitious stories about "fallen angels" if she were.She can tell the story any way she likes. I liked it so much that I'm already halfway book no. 3. If her writing keeps improving and she keeps the story line going successfully, I would rate her up with the likes of A.G. Riddle and Robert Storey, except she's a much better at organizing her story than Robert Story.

The Belial Stone was a reasonably good book although I did not exactly find it fantastic. This book, The Belial Library, is the successor to The Belial Stone. I found this book quite enjoyable and an improvement over the first book.
The story kind of continues from the first book. I write “kind of” because the Belial stones found in the previous book are not part of this book but it stills ties in with the events in the first book. The main characters are all back and although, at first, Laney seems to have departed on an entirely new archeological adventure we are back to “the fallen” soon enough.
Although a lot of the book centers around Laney and her friend Jen, who also have a secret which are about to be revealed, Henry Chandler plays a central role in this story and his remarkable performance in the first book is about to be explained. I am happy that the author managed to put a bit of a twist to that explanation instead of just going for the obvious one.
The book is quite full of action as well as discoveries and plot twists and, as I wrote, I found it a quite enjoyable read. As with the previous books the background story, the archeological, religious and historical plot elements are quite interesting without going overboard on the religious parts.
The book have a proper conclusion meaning that it does not end in a frustrating cliff-hanger. Having said that it does contain an epilogue with a clear intention of getting the reader interested in buying the next book in the series. Personally I have to say that it succeeded.
After having read The Belial Stone, I couldn't wait to jump in to The Belial Library. What a phenomenal ride from start to finish. Character development is fantastic, and transition between the first and second book was seamless with just the right amount of additional details provided, effectively making you want more in future books. In addition, the author does a great job at mixing reality and fantasy, but with a flare that really forces you to think about the fantasy. Could the concepts be plausible? Believe what you want, but the story details are just right to at least make you a believer in the Belial world, and not too detailed as to bore the reader.
I'm a huge fan of adventure stories with ties to reality. My current favorite author is Greig Beck, but Ms. Brady has crept up into a virtual tie. I will be starting into The Belial Ring as soon as this review is done and am excited that the series doesn't stop there!
The author is to be congratulated once again for the diligence of her research, verifying the accuracy of the places and events used in this novel. The first half of this novel is an exciting read, with much action, suspense and humor.
The second half, unfortunately, is another story. There is still excitement and suspense, but the action appears to slow down. It doesn't, really, but there are too many instances t\where the characters are talking to themselves about their inner feelings toward each other; fears for their safety and the safety of others. And there is page after page of it. I found myself skimming through these pages to find content. If the reader is as successful as I in skimming, this novel concludes with some interesting surprises. I have therefore rated "The Belial Library" a 3.5
This is the second book of a series which began with The Belial Stone. The third book, promised in summer of 2014, will be The Belial Ring. The Belial Library had my attention from the first page. Ms. Brady's blend of science fiction and fact is enlightening, but most of all it is exciting and fun! We've all seen those horror movies where we yell at the characters on screen, "Don't go in there!" Dr. Delaney MacPhearson is that character. Fortunately for the story line, she does go in there and, in doing so, she saves lives, artifacts, knowledge, etc. If she can't kick or totally punch out her opponents she will shoot them as a last resort. There is a lot of fighting and shooting in the book but the bad guys are so utterly eeeevil they deserve everything they get. Get ready to learn some ancient history and wear gloves so you don't chew off your fingernails. Enjoy!
